Man enters Atlanta grocery store with five guns and body armor

(ATLANTA, GA) Written By Johanna Truitt: A man, identified as Rico Marley, 22, entered Publix grocery store at Atlantic Station in Atlanta, Georgia armed with five guns and protected in body armor.  A witness spotted Marley openly carrying a rifle as he walked into the restroom and alerted the store manager who then contacted the police.  Marley was armed with two long guns and three pistols.  An Atlantic Station spokesperson said that they’re closely monitoring the situation alongside APD.  A motive has yet to be given.

This come just days after Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa, 21, opened fire at Kings Soopers grocery store in Boulder, Colorado, killing 10 people. The suspect has been charged with 10 counts of first-degree murder and one charge of attempted murder, according to his arrest warrant.

The suspect had “removed all of his clothing and was dressed only in shorts” when he was taken into custody, the affidavit said. Outside the store, the document said, Alissa wouldn’t tell police whether there were other suspects, but he did ask to speak to his mother.  Alissa, whose family emigrated from Syria, may have been suffering from mental illness, according to his 34-year-old brother, Ali Aliwi Alissa.

On March 16, 2021 a series of mass shootings took place at three spas or massage parlors in Atlanta, Georgia.  Eight people were killed, six of whom were Asian women, and one other person was wounded. A suspect, 21-year-old Robert Aaron Long, was taken into custody later that day. Long said that he was motivated by sexual addiction.  At the current time, Long’s shooting spree isn’t considered a hate crime.
