Jeannie Mai and Jeezy Apply for Georgia Marriage License 1 Year After Engagement
(ATLANTA, GA) Exclusive: Wedding bells are ringing for Jeannie Mai and Jeezy. IssueMatter.com has confirmed the couple filed for a marriage license in Fulton County, Georgia, which means they have to tie the knot within six months. The “Real” co-host and the rapper began dating in late 2018 and got engaged in March 2020 at his house after their trip to Vietnam was canceled because of the pandemic.
“Jeannie and Jay were set for a trip to Vietnam this April. What Jeannie didn’t know is that Jay was planning to propose,” her camp told IssuesMatter, noting Jeezy surprised Mai with a “quarantine date night in his home filled with Vietnamese food and decor.”
Jeezy and Mai’s relationship appeared to strengthen after she underwent emergency surgery for epiglottitis, a life-threatening inflammatory illness, in the fall that forced her to drop out of “Dancing With the Stars.” While she recovered, Jeezy appeared on “The Real” to update viewers and her co-hosts about her health.
“I thank y’all for y’all prayers and y’all support,” Jeezy said. “She’s doing well; she’s eating everything in the house. But she’s definitely doing well.” Mai later said she had to go on a liquid only diet while she healed, which caused her to lose 10 pounds.
“I got kind of depressed because I lost about 10 pounds from just eating liquids, so I am really frail right now.”
This will be Mai’s second marriage, as she split from ex-husband Freddy Harteis in 2017 after 10 years of marriage. Jeezy is the father of three children.
